eMechs are almost incapable of defending against circa-1990 skript kiddie flood attacks. Flood kick isn't effective enough, and can have too many false kicks. My suggestion would:

Immediately +m the channel upon detecting a massive flood. This would mean that is x nicks spammed the channel with y lines in z amount of time, it would lock down. Think 4 nicks blasting 5+ lines in less than 5 seconds, is a flood. Additionally, once the channel is +m it would be exceptional if the emech could +v the most recently active user (other than the flooders). Obviously a full history of the channel doesn't need to be kept. Just an array which kept a timestamp of the last time someone said something in the channel would be enough. This could be purged of anything less than an hour old.

This feature would keep the channel running smoothly in the event of a flood attack.

Apologies for sounding newb or lame.

Or at least the bot should lock the channel when more than x lines are written in y seconds, no matter who wrote them.

I wasn't sure if 2.x was frozen or not. In any case, the feature idea stands.
